Shish Taouk (tavuk şiş)
In Turkish called “tavuk şiş”, is a traditional "marinated cubes of chicken breast" originally from the Turkish cuisine that later became part of Middle Eastern cuisine. It is also served in kebab houses in many cities around the world.
The delicious chicken cubes can be served on a plate with various side dishes (preferably rice), wrapped as a sandwich in a pita or a thin flatbread like Lavash or Yufka. The wrap generally contains lettuce or vegetables, which can include tomatoes, lettuce, onions, chilli and various types of sauces (with or without garlic). Just try it!

Çoban salatasi (shepherd's salad)
Çoban salatası or "Choban salad" (Turkish for "shepherd's salad") is a salad from Turkish and Azerbaijani cuisine that consists of finely chopped tomatoes (also cherry tomatoes), cucumbers, onions (it works also without) , flat parsley and the delicious shepherd's cheese & black olives on top complete the whole.
The traditional dressing consists of lemon juice, olive oil and salt but a special balsamic sauce is also recommended. Just try it!

Ayran
Simple but tasty and refreshing!
Yogurt and water are stirred in a ratio of 2: 1 with a little salt until foamy.
The basis is full-fat yogurt made from sheep's or cow's milk. Ayran is occasionally flavored with lemon balm, mint or basil.
In Turkey Ayran is traditionally served to an arriving guest. Just try it!

Döner kebab
In Turkish simply called “Döner” is a type of kebab made from meat that is cooked on a vertical rotisserie. Spiced meat (usually chicken or veal) stacked in the shape of an inverted cone is slowly rotated on the rotisserie next to a vertical cooking element. The outer layer is cut into thin chips when cooking. Vertical rotisserie was invented in the 19th century Ottoman Empire, and döner kebab inspired dishes similar to those of the Arab doner, the Greek gyros, and the Mexican pastor.

Soups are of great importance in Turkish cuisine.
Starting lunch or dinner with soup has become a tradition.

Cacik (Cucumber yogurt)
Cacık is a delicious starter from Turkish cuisine made from yogurt, cucumber and garlic.
Easy to prepare but very tasty:
Mixture of yogurt, (preferably Süzme Yoğurt) and finely chopped cucumber and seasoned with garlic, salt, mint or dill (also together). Peppermint or dill leaves serve as a garnish.
Cacık is served as a starter, used as a sauce for salads, kebab and lahmacun, or served with flatbread and börek.
